Liyang Shao, a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), currently serves as the Associate Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and holds dual research appointments at Pengcheng Laboratory and the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory. He is a Corresponding Academician of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence (NAAI) and Executive Vice President of its Asia Branch, a Foreign Academician of the European Academy of Sciences, a National Distinguished Young Scholar, the Director of the Integrated Intelligent Network Research Center for Sky, Land, and Sea, and the Executive Director of the Guangdong Integrated Optoelectronic Sensing Laboratory, as well as an expert evaluator for major projects and national awards under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Shao received his Ph.D. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2008 and has conducted research at globally renowned institutions including Carleton University in Canada, the University of Sydney in Australia, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research focuses on intelligent distributed optical fiber sensing technologies and their engineering applications, along with integrated intelligent network technologies for sky, land, and sea. His work has been widely applied in oil and gas pipelines, wind power grids, rail transportation, bridges and tunnels, perimeter security, telecommunication optical cables, and aerospace systems, with further deployments in offshore wind power, marine oil and gas exploration, marine geophysics, and national defense. A senior member of IEEE, OSA, and SPIE, as well as a senior member of the Chinese Optical Society (COS), he serves on specialized committees including the Optical Testing Committee, the Fiber and Integrated Optics Committee, and the Optical Fiber Sensing Technology Committee. To date, he has published over 200 academic papers in leading international journals and conferences, including 180 SCI-indexed articles, with a total citation count of 7,479 and an H-index of 47. He has delivered two keynote speeches and over 20 invited talks at major international conferences such as IEEE ICCT, CLEO-PR, and APOS, and has served as a member of technical program committees and organizing committees for more than 20 international conferences. He holds over 10 authorized invention patents and has led or participated in more than 20 research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Sichuan High-Level Talent Fund, provincial and municipal science and technology departments, and enterprise collaborations. His accolades include the Australian Government "Endeavour Research Fellowship," the National Distinguished Young Scholar award, the Zhan Tian you Railway Science and Technology Youth Award, recognition as an Outstanding Contribution Expert in Sichuan Province, selection for Shenzhen's Overseas High-Level Talent Program (Category B), the Shenzhen Industrial Development and Innovation Talent Award, the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Award (Individual), and the Second Prize of the Technology Invention Award from the Chinese Society for Optical Engineering. He has been recognized for four consecutive years in Stanford University's "World's Top 2% Scientists" rankings, covering both the Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking and the Annual Scientific Impact Ranking.
