Dr. SHAO Jianda, former director of Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, guest-professor at University of Science and Technology of China and Shanghai Tech University. He is an Optica Fellow and SPIE Fellow and foreign member of Russian Academy of Sciences. He serves as the Conference Chair of the SPIE Pacific Rim Laser Damage Symposium and the vice president of the Chinese Optical Society. He has dedicated his career to advancing high-power laser optics, covering high-power laser materials, ultra-precision optical manufacturing and metrology, laser coatings and laser-induced damage mechanisms.
